1. Gruen Von Behrens is in the county. He was going to be at DCHS and we had enough interest in surrounding counties to have him in Gray County for all the schools to enjoy.
Schedule is attached.
Question: Do we want to have time with Gruen as a committee while he is in the area? Perhaps supper at Brandy’s?
2. April 2, KICK BUTT DAY: article in news papers……..Gruen is in the county…….
Anything else?
3. May 15, 2008—3rd Annual Clean Air Summit—satellite locations: Hays and Dodge City. 10- 3 during the day. We need everyone and anyone interested to register. We only have to travel to Dodge City. If we want this to happen more often, we need to have good attendance. Who can attend? Come learn how to make your community smoke free! Participants will gain an understanding of the media's role in a clean indoor air campaign; learn how to work with and influence elected officials, and get the latest statewide action in both Kansas and Missouri. In addition, each participant will recieve the Clean Air Workbook to assist smoke free efforts in their community. Box lunch will be provided. Nursing CEUs available. I have not heard of the location, but will forward that information as soon as we know….. What about inviting our elected officials of our county and cities?

“Together We Achieve More”
Thursday, March 20, 2008
There are many activities coming up. It is our hope that this note finds you healthy and happy.
Today is such a great day. The sun is shining brightly and the wind reminds us that we are still in Kansas. Here is a brief list of activities that are coming up not necessarily in a calendar order--please pay attention to the dates.
March 27, 2008--GCHWC meeting....at the Kansas Wheat House, Inc. at 7 p.m.
We will be finalizing plans for Gruen Von Behrens who is spit chew cancer survivor. Gruen will be making his way throughout our county and several surrounding counties. My goal is to attach the flier to our blog. We are so blessed to have this young man in our schools. Even though we are targeting youth, please know you are invited to attend the nearest school for the motivational meetings. You will be totally excited to know that our Gray County Health and Wellness Coalition took the lead on getting Gruen to southwest Kansas.
also, Kick Butt Day is April 2, 2008. I have attached a web site that you might find interesting. www.kickbuttday.org. You will find this very interesting. We will be counting Gruen as part of our big promotion.
Also, we are starting our Gray County Melt Down for the spring. We will meet on March 25, 2008 at 6:30 -7:30 p.m. at the Kansas Wheat House, Inc. We have plenty of room so bring a friend and let's melt down and be losers together. We can do this and spring is the best time to get into the grove to move. We plan to meet on Tuesday evenings for 8 weeks. Let Frankey Schmidt or Shirley Voran, know if you are planning to attend. Our focus is going to be lite cooking ideas, eating strategies, physical activities, latest research and trends, and this is all about you. We want you to be very successful and very healthy.
We will have several conference calls we will need to be involved with. At the meeting we will post the dates and times. Our next conference call is April 1, 2008 and we will need volunteers to listen in. If you want to learn more about what is going on with tobacco issues, the conference calls are a great blessing.
Schedule for Gruen Von Behrens: April 1 - Scott City and Dighton- 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
7:00 p.m. --DCCC- the ballroom at the union (we need volunteers to help direct people)
April 2 - 9:30 a.m.--Dodge City High School; Ingalls Jr./Sr. High School- 1 p.m.;

An agenda will posted this weekend for our meeting on the 27th. Life is terrific because we are sharing moments and making a difference.
